Junius : stat nominis umbra [complete in two volumes]

1772, First Edition. London : Printed for Henry Sampson Woodfa[ll]. Poor copies both bound in contemporary full gilt-tooled leather. Spine covers mostly lacking with all boards detached (although volume 1 front board has been repaired with paper tape between the title page and page i). Boards scuffed and edgeworn, but retaining some charm. Marbled endpapers. Title page text is clipped at the outer margins, with the imprint's final two letters affected. Contemporary reader autograph (1804) to flyleaves. The text blocks remain strong and clean on the whole, showing only the expected faint foxing and offsetting of age. A complete and serviceable set.
