Metamorphoseos [2 volumes]

Ovid ; Suárez de Figueroa, Diego [trans]

Madrid : Imprenta de los Herederos de Francisco del Hierro, 1735. First Edition thus. Good copies both in contemporary full vellum boards, now showing considerable wear. Covers and spines dust-toned, with printed titles marginally legible; panel edges show minor tearing and abrasions, with twin twine closure anchors remaining. The second volume shows a dark stain to the front cover, and has a broken front hinge; other hinges weak. Except as noted, the bindings remain strong for their age with stitches holding. Leaves remain clean on the whole, showing only the expected faint foxing or offsetting. A strong and well-preserved set overall. Item #469307
