1775, First and Later Editions. London : J. Dodsley. Good set only in contemporary half leather over marble boards, showing heavy wear. All volumes retain both boards, some now lacking leather or marbled papers entirely, with others partly lacking or showing only heavy abrasions and dust. Most leather spine covers partly lacking, some only abraded and others lacking entirely. Vol. 1777 final leaves wormed, affecting top lines and rear board. Sewing still holds overall, if shaken in places; v. 1768, pp. 163–280 loose. Leaves remain clean and strong overall, with sparse, isolated foxing. Most copies bear the contemporary autograph of Edmund Ditchfield and later scholarly annotations to endpapers. A very serviceable set. Item #468990
