1861, New and Revised Edition. London : John Murray. Good copy in the original half leather over marble boards, now somewhat scuffed. Spine with raised bands and gilt-blocked black leather label. Cover edges, joints and endbands show significant wear. The text block remains tight, strong and clean on the whole, showing some scattered dust-dulling. Folded frontispiece remains crisp. The subtitle reads "for the use of young persons," and the volume shows ample evidence of such careful contemporary use. Endpapers copiously doodled, with some more minor annotations internally. The annotations are chiefly in pencil and could be cleaned, but add to the volume's charm. A well-preserved example overall. Item #464485
