1822, First Edition. Dublinii : ex Typ. Richardi Coyne. Very good copy in the original gilt-decorated, patterned full black leather, now slightly rubbed at the edges, joints and endbands. Board edges and wide dentelles gilt-tooled, with marbled endpapers. All edges gilt, with light foxing to some preliminary and final leaves; the interior remains remarkably tight, bright and clean. Seven silk register ribbons extend from the fore-edge, well-preserved if slightly creased and faded with age. Provenance: the missal of Rev. John James Joseph O'Carroll S.J. (1837-1889). A well-preserved example overall. The accompanying buckram slip-case is well-preserved aside from minor scuffs, though in need of repair with both the top and bottom panels split cleanly along one edge and pivoting on the other.
