Remaining leaves are strong, with all edges gilt, free from foxing, and showing minimal dust-dulling. The library bindings show mild external wear. Substantial sections are missing or loose from both volumes, consistent with the deliberate removal of material. No colour plates remain in the Europe volume; 65 (out of 83) colour plates remain in the Africa volume. The Europe volume retains 2 black and white plates, 2 folding charts, and 1 plan.
