London : L. Upcott Gill, 1884. First Edition. Good copies all in half black leather over burgundy woodgrain cloth boards; raised bands to spine, with gilt-blocked titles in the compartments. Heavy wear to the spine, with lighter rubbing along the panel edges. Endbands slightly frayed, and corners somewhat bumped. Preliminary and final leaves are substantially foxed, with free endpapers somewhat creased. Binding remains strong, and the core text blocks are generally tight, bright and clean, with some isolated, faint foxing only. A strong and well-preserved set overall. Item #457998
