1853, Missae Novissimae Sanctorum adjectae. Neapoli : Ex typographia Simoniana, Superiorum Facultate. Poor missal copy in the original gilt-blocked full leather binding, with a later crude repair to the hinges and panel edges. Covers heavily worn overall, with the rear hinge repair starting to fail at the bottom. Two red silk bookmarks sewn into the top, with four attached to the text block along the fore-edge. The text block is cracked at some signatures and beginning to separate into sections, though the sewing still holds. Leaves are generally strong and clean, with faint dust-dulling overall; there are, however, several isolated instances of tearing and staining, often with crude repairs. Despite clear and frequent use for its intended purpose, a unique and very serviceable copy. Further scans, images and additional bibliographical material available on request. Item #456714
