1871, First Centenary Edition. Edinburgh : A. & C. Black. Good copies all in their original vibrant Victorian binding of decorated cloth boards. Spine bands and panel edges slightly dust-toned and rubbed as with age; spines slightly sun-toned. Quentin Durward front hinge tender. Frontispieces all retain their tissue guards, but are coming loose from binding in three volumes. Interiors are otherwise tight, with pages notably clean. A well-preserved collection overall. Provenance: Sydney Tappenden's copies, with his bookplates. Item #453505
