Jack Clayton was a British film director and producer, born in Brighton in 1921, who was famous for adapting popular books into acclaimed movies. He began his career in the film industry in 1935 and rose to prominence with his 1959 film, Room at the Top, which earned him and Academy Award nomination for Best Director.
