Sometimes attributed to Robert Blakeney, a previous owner of the manuscript. The portion dealing with Whethamstede was published also by Thomas Hearne in 1732 with Thomas Otterbourne's Duo rerum anglicarum scriptores veteres, as "Johannis Whethamstede Chronicon".
